#SpeakClimate Oceans Month

By Emily Ferrick, Digital Communications Coordinator

This #WorldOceansMonth, TCI wanted to spark conversation and action around the health and importance of our oceans for our second annual #SpeakClimate social media campaign. We all have different passions, talents, and interests, but together we can all speak climate to help slow the rise of climate change impacts on the places we love.

Together with four incredible influencers in the climate action space, we asked how their followers #SpeakClimate for our oceans for a chance to win $1,000 to donate to the environmental organization of their choice.

Get to know our partners below:

Meet Sam Bencheghib, runner, climate / ocean advocate, and founder of Make A Change World! Sam speaks climate through his passion for adventure, running across the U.S. for our oceans, paddling down the world’s most polluted rivers, and founding his own organization.  Check out his Instagram here, and learn more about his organization, Make a Change World, here.  TCI is grateful for Sam’s passion for making a difference for our oceans and our planet!

Sharona Shnayder is a speaker, writer, and founder of Tuesdays for Trash, an organization aiming to clean and improve communities around the world. At her new home in Tel Aviv, Sharona works to keep plastic out of our oceans and help others take action. You can get to know Sharona and learn more about Tuesdays for Trash on Instagram! Sharona’s work is inspiring to not only us, but to many others  who are working to create a cleaner future.

Meet Amy of Kids Against Plastic! Along with her sister Ella, Amy founded their organization dedicated to picking up 100,000 pieces of plastic and making the UK #plasticlever. Amy and Ella promote youth social action and encourage others to get involved to help our planet. You can learn more about them and their amazing work here! Their organization is helping youth across the world take action in their communities, which gives us hope for a cleaner future.

Emily Penn is an ocean advocate, tackling plastic pollution from sea to source. She has founded TWO environmental organizations! SHiFT, an organization helping others reduce their plastic consumption and waste, and eXXpedition, an all female sailing crew investigating ocean plastic pollution and helping people use their skills to solve it. We’re grateful for Emily’s dedication to reducing plastic pollution in our oceans and helping others to take action!

With a chance to win $1,000 to donate to an organization of the winner’s choice, we saw some amazing responses to our question, “How do you #SpeakClimate for our oceans?” Check some out below!
