Each were recognized for the outstanding work on the Gulf of Maine Studies Community Based Stewardship Initiative. The educational collaboration among the Gulf of Maine Institute, Kennebunkport Conservation Trust, University of New England, and Kennebunk Regional High School has inspired creation of similar programs in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Nova Scotia.

This innovative approach to combining interdisciplinary classroom education with outdoor learning and local environmental stewardship projects is having a lasting positive impact on students throughout the Gulf of Maine.
